There weren't enough bottles of liquor in all of the French Quarter to erase the painful, quality time with Trinity's mother. Alyson had called her home for a visit after years of being away though she refused to actually stay in her mother's home, opting for a hotel room with a nice view off of a balcony. But first, Trinity wandered the Quarter, starting on Bourbon street, with a bottle of bourbon, in kind, in hand. It was for sure that Cafe Du Monde would be calling her name in the morning, perhaps afternoon.

Her mother had a way of irritating her daughter to her bones. Alyson saw herself as a mystic, a conduit for magical energy or some mumbo-fucking-jumbo. She always claimed Trinity inherited gifts from her parents; her mother being a vessel, so to speak, and her father an ethereal wanderer. Trinity never believed a word of it, though. She believed her mother was a drunk and a hippie stoner who took one too many tokes over the line and her incessant yammering about magic and witches only pushed her daughter away further, particularly to a bottle located on Dumaine.

She had protested against her mother's demand to come back home, seeing as life had thrown her enough curve balls to strike anyone out. The last thing she wanted was to be stuck in a house with her mother. Two days, tops, and then she would be back in Shreveport to work in her studio again. But until then, Trinity danced a little as she listened to the jazz music that floated on the breeze from close by street performers, watching tourists flock in awe at the cultural diversity in The Big Easy.

It wasn't quite dusk, yet the sun's rays were still peaking over the horizon. Beams of gold against a violet sky gradually grew to the darkness on the opposite side of town. Trinity found herself sitting atop of a log, her feet dangling into the water below. Red River was serving as a sanctuary for her. Her mind had been diverted in too many directions to keep up with, something not even getting lost in music was helping. She was unsure of her direction and the tumbles it would take in the future. Life, love, friends, family, work... ever since being glamoured against her will she couldn't shake an uneasiness that rocked her to the core.

Her mother had been bothering her more and more it seemed, wanting to visit her up north but that was the last thing Trinity needed. Between Kurt re-surfacing and the vampires that ran rampant, though they certainly did down there, as well, she didn't need her mother's weird spiritual mumbo jumbo about her fate and destiny and the supposed "powers" she had. It was a crock of shit and she never hesitated to call her mother out on it when the opportunity would arise.

Then there was Kurt...

God, what a hit to her blind spot. He was the last person she ever expected to encounter. The east coast was his domain and she figured he'd never look back after she broke him. She wasn't even sure where they were going -- if they were going. The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to turn tail and run again. She was a coward at heart when it came to him, but the thought of disappointing him again, especially in the unstable state that he was in, it was enough to break her. There really was no one that knew her like he did, not Dana, not her mom. Only him. But that was the past and she knew that their future looked bleak, though she wasn't sure if there really was a future for them in store, even as friends. Could he ever truly forgive her? And even if he said he did, would it really make things right? Probably not.

Trinity swayed her feet in the water as she released a staggered breath, her entire body sighing with it. She really knew how to screw her life up, and worst of all, the water wasn't helping calm her mind. If anything, she was more alone with her thoughts than ever before.

One of the perks of Trinity's job was that, on occasion, she was allowed to travel to concerts and music festivals, sometimes even broadcasting from the vendor tents that surrounded the events. Country wasn't really her ideal genre of music, but she wouldn't pass up the opportunity to attend a live concert of such. Lately the country was beginning to sound more like pop, rather than a twangy guitar, some lyrics about a dog and a woman leaving a hillbilly and some sad crying. It was growing to be more tolerable and more and more chart-crossings were happening. It was there that Trinity had the pleasure of meeting Josephine Lane, southern girl turned country superstar. She was an adorable little firecracker holed up in a beauty queen's body. It was no surprise that they became fast friends, maintaining contact when schedules weren't conflicting.

Trinity was one of the first people Jo reached out to when she decided to come Louisiana for her hiatus, Bon Temps being twenty-six miles or so away from Shreveport. It was a place that Trinity tended to avoid, but on occasion would travel to. This was a special occasion that she was happy to oblige to. Bon Temps had some redeeming qualities. The locals were quaint, Merlotte's food was delicious with friendly staff. The downside was that it was entirely too small and everyone was in each other's business. The little old women with nothing to do with their days spent it gossiping horrendously or watching the lawn get sweaty and glisten under the sun. It was a great reminder of why Trinity preferred Shreveport.

Jo's visit was extremely hush-hush, not wanting to alert any paparazzi or crazed fans to rush her. Trinity figured out the perfect guise to meet under. She'd messaged Jo to meet her at the Econ-O-Wash in Bon Temps during a time that the establishment would be scarce with other patrons. Trinity made it seem as legit as possible, even bringing a basket of laundry to do to seem as though she were any ordinary Bon Temps resident going about their daily routine. She wore a pair of jean shorts, a black tank top with an over-sized blue button up shirt over it, which she tied the ends into a knot that rested at the bottom of her stomach. She also wore a floofy black sunhat and sunglasses to hide her own identity, just in case. The laundromat didn't have wifi, though she assumed Bon Temps was a giant dead zone, reception-wise. She was thankful for her mobile web on her cellular plan as she texted Jo and played games in between messages. It was the perfect cover for the singer to lay low under, and Trin was anxious and excited to see her friend again.

When looking back on her life, Trin couldn't say that she made any regrets. Well, not too many, at least. Her fingers wrapped around her glass as she sat in a corner booth in a dim-lit area in Fangtasia. This was the second time that she had ended up in a bar full of vampires and people vying for their attention like lost puppies. She snorted and tossed back another drink, wincing as the alcohol burned as it traveled down her throat. Trin didn't come alone tonight, at least, she hadn't. Her cousin Dana had come to town as a surprise, but it seemed she found a vampire or fangbanger that she got along with too well and took off, leaving Trinity to sit and drink.

It was a pleasant time, while it lasted, with Dana. Being around her cousin made her think back to her past and the good times that they had. The more Trin began to think, and drink -- which can sometimes be a lethal combination, the more she began to think back to the good times she had with other people that simply lived in her memories now. As the good memories passed, the unpleasant ones un-dug themselves from their graves and warranted more alcohol from the bartender. Now the radio personality was finished with the girlish drinks. Such heavy memories called for heavier drinks. Whiskey sours, Kraken and Coke, Kamikazes. She built her arsenal of booze and hid behind it to sulk. She didn't intend for the night to end up with her awash in the ghosts she ran from.

Social media can be the worst thing or a drunk person. It only made it easier for Trin to rehash all the things she left unsettled in her head, like a plague with no cure. She ran, yes. She ran from the people she cared about and she didn't look back, usually. She made a new life for herself, away from any unkind feelings that ate away at her. Deep down, she felt that the direction her life had began to travel was wrong for her. She couldn't fault herself for taking flight, it was the only way that she could spread her wings. No matter how much she justified her life and actions, she still couldn't shake that nagging feeling that tormented her, sinking in her gut like an anchor at sea.

Trinity slammed her empty glass on the table, probably a bit too loud, as a thud resonated from her booth. A few Fangbangers turned their heads to look at her, where as the vampires didn't give two shits as to who she was or what she did. The brunette contorted her face and stuck her tongue out at them as a response before sliding from the leather booth. "What are you looking at, huh?" she sneered at them before standing wobbily, concentrating on maintaining a semblance of balance. She wedged her slight frame through a group of dancing fangbangers to find the bar, using it to walk. After six, or so, drinks, she staggered toward the bathroom... just in case.
